Battery Disposal
Note on the disposal of used batteries
The following information is addressed to end users who use batteries or products with built-in batteries:
1. Free take-back of used batteries
Batteries may not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries so that proper disposal can be guaranteed. Batteries can be returned free of charge to municipal collection points or to retailers.
As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back used batteries. Our take-back obligation is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our product range.
You can return such used batteries, with sufficient postage, to the following address:
papercrush GmbH
Am Galgenberg 4 B
76768 Berg (Pfalz)
2. Meaning of battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries that contain more than 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury, more than 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium or more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead, the chemical designation of the respective pollutant used is located under the wheeled bin symbol - "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" stands for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.

3. Environmental impact of the substances contained
Batteries may contain substances that are harmful to the environment and human health. Particular caution is required when handling lithium-containing batteries due to the special risks involved. The separate collection and recycling of old batteries and accumulators is intended to prevent negative effects on the environment and human health.
4. Waste avoidance and reuse
Please avoid the generation of waste from old batteries as much as possible, for example by preferring batteries with a longer service life or rechargeable batteries. Please avoid littering public spaces by not carelessly leaving batteries or battery-containing electrical and electronic devices lying around. Please check possibilities to reuse a battery instead of disposing of it, for example by reconditioning or repairing the battery.
